
Sarah Jane Young is a flute and piccolo teacher in the Athens, Georgia area. She is currently a member of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Baroque Flute Ensemble. In addition, Ms. Young is a substitute with the Augusta Symphony Orchestra, and has previously performed with the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Young received a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of Massachusetts, where she studied with Christopher Krueger, and the Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Florida State University, where she studied with Eva Amsler. While a student at Florida State, Ms. Young held one of the Flute Studio's assistantships, teaching undergraduate and graduate students privately, coaching chamber ensembles, assisting with the teaching of woodwind methods, leading Freshman and Sophomore studio class, and performing with the University's Wind Orchestra, Chamber Winds, Opera Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra.
She has performed and lectured at the annual Florida Flute Fair, has been a clinician at the FSU Summer Music Camps, and currently teaches master classes and leads sectionals in the Atlanta/Athens area at various middle schools and high schools. Ms. Young holds memberships in the Florida Flute Association and the National Flute Association.
